Understanding EDID will help the installer describe the supported function of a display device as delivered by a manufacturer. Emulation of a display device using its EDID is also a useful function for installers. To determine if an A/V receiver, DVD, or a HDMI switch is interoperable with a display device, using a saved EDID on a test equipment is a quick way to validate source device interoperability.
